Perez Elementary - AISD

The LCPL Nicholas S. Perez Elementary School developed for the Austin Independent School District was named after Lance Corporal Perez, a 2003 graduate of Travis High School, who was the first Austin, Texas soldier to lose his life in combat while in service to his country in the Iraq war.

The campus incorporates 24-classroom K-5 building serving the southeast jurisdiction of the Austin Independent School District. The facility takes advantage of a difficult site and provides the surrounding neighborhoods with a local event and gathering space. Each classroom wing utilizes day-lighting techniques and is designed with communal learning spaces for each age group. The campus design incorporates classrooms oriented around a central courtyard and library.
